Divine Justice by David Baldacci is a nice tale of “old spies” and intrigue.
Having more lives than the proverbial cat, John Carr is the most wanted man in America. With two pulls of the trigger, the men who destroyed Carr’s life and kept him in the shadows are finally silenced. Now he’s the subject of a man hunt unlike any ever mounted for one man and aligned against him is a master-spy while on his side are the remaining members of the Camel Club who are not without a pretty formidable skill set themselves.
It’s a bit far-fetched on some things – like the super-max prison doing drug transport and didn’t exactly have me on the edge of my seat, looking over my shoulder for them to be coming after me, but it was an enjoyable book that entertained from cover to cover.
While the characters are well drawn and identifiable, the good guys are TOO good and the bad guys too evil. It’s well written and flows easily. The scenes are smooth and coherent. Some of the good guys died, so it’s not a fairy tale ending. A good rainy day read.
