Linda Fairstein is a new author for me. She’s an expert on sex crimes and this novel takes us deep into the psyche of one such person. Set in New York, we learn about it’s rich military history as we follow in the footsteps of a killer who has learned his lessons in how the justice department works in the state and uses that knowledget to his advantage.
We feel the blistering heat of New York in August. It’s a time when tempers are short and murder is commonplace. Alexandra Cooper is an assistant DA who specializes in sex crimes. So when the body of a brutally beaten woman is found, she’s called in with the investigative team. Then a second body is found also brutally beaten and it becomes even more imperative that Alex discover the true killer and get him behind bars.
Ms. Fairstein has fleshed out her characters well. The story line is a good one and she doesn’t miss on playing it out. Paced well, the book carries the reader through to the exciting end.
