Reading While Exercising

The gym I belong to has elliptical machines, treadmills and recumbent bicycles that have places for you to put a book or magazine to read while exercising.I haven’t been reading as I usually don’t remember to bring a book with me, but I just purchased John Sandford‘s Dark of the Moon that I think I’ll tuck in the car and read while I use the treadmill or bike.

I think it will make the time pass better without slowing me down and will make it more fun to exercise. Why don’t you read and exercise along with me over the next few days as I read one by one of my favorite authors, John Sandford.

Dark of the Moon is set like many of Mr. Sandford’s novels in Minnesota only this time, Virgil Flowers is the primary character. You’ll remember Virgil from Mr. Sandford’s Prey series of books where he often featured as the sidekick to Lucas Davenport. It will be great seeing him develop Virgil’s personae as we read through this book.

The acknowledgement in the front of the book says it was written in cooperation with Larry Millett an architectural writer, local historian and occasional novelist.

I was prompted to read this book by a review that was written over at Sensory Overload — many thanks to Mike for his thorough review.

  1. Man, you sure are good.

    It’s all I can do to BREATHE while I’m exercising.

    LOL I was going to say the same as Paul – I don’t know that I could see straight enough to read while exercising. WTG Margaret!

  3. Reader says:

    @Paul – I’m happy to report that the treadmill and reading are quite compatible as long as it’s the fast walk I always do (can’t jog because of bad knees).

    @Fragile — it’s not hard!HONEST!
